Lago di Ledro, 11 giugno 2024 – Manca poco più di una settimana al via dell’edizione 2026 dell’OM International Ledro Match Race, unico evento ‘uno contro uno’ programmato in Italia valido come tappa del World Match Racing Tour.

Organizzata dall’Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, classificata come Grado 2 e giunta alla quindicesima edizione, la manifestazione vedrà al via dodici equipaggi, sei dei quali inclusi nella Top 20 mondiale di questa specialità basata su tecnica, agonismo e profonda conoscenza del regolamento. Le otto Nazioni rappresentate dagli atletici gara confermano il taglio internazionale dell’OM International Match Race.

Tra venerdì e domenica della prossima settimana, sotto la guida attenta del PRO Fabio Barrasso e a bordo della flotta J/22 di proprietà del sodalizio presieduto da Gaspare Inglese, a cercare di scrivere il proprio nome dopo quello di Rocco Attili, vincitore nel 2024 e 2025, nell’albo d’oro della manifestazione, saranno:

Christian Hamilton (GBR, 6), testa di serie numero uno;

Timothée Rossi (FRA, 8), vincitore del Porto Montenegro Match Race 2025;

Tom Foucher (FRA, 11);

Eric Monnin (SUI, 12) il già più volte campione europeo nonché decima forza del ranking stagionale del World Match Racing Tour;

Ange Delerce (FRA, 15), Youth World Champion nel 2023;

Lennard Bal (NED, 19);

Mati Sepp (EST, 30), presente sin dalla prima edizione e vincitore nel 2016 e 2018;

Angelos Papagerogiou (GRE, 36);

Michal Gryglewski (POL, 49);

Kristine Mauritzen (DEN, 84);

Julia D’Amodio (FRA, 122);

Riccardo Sepe (ITA, 192).

Classico il format, aperto da un Round Robin che servirà per definire la griglia degli scontri a eliminazione diretta utili a individuare i due skipper finalisti. Tutti i match saranno arbitrati da un team di umpire guidato da Martin Clasen.

L’edizione 2026 dell’OM International Match Race verrà presentata ufficialmente nel tardo pomeriggio di giovedì 18 giugno con una Cerimonia di Apertura che si annuncia al solito molto partecipata. Nel corso della premiazione, in programma domenica pomeriggio presso la clubhouse dell’Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, verrà assegnato un nuovo trofeo creato appositamente per la manifestazione.

L’OM International Match Race, e più in generale le attività dell’Associazione Velica Lago di Ledro, sono supporti da Garda Trentino, Cassa Rurale di Ledro, Alpilegno, Intralighting e Franco Adriana.

Lake Ledro, June 11, 2026 – Just over a week remains before the start of the 2026 edition of the OM International Ledro Match Race, the only head-to-head sailing event held in Italy that is part of the World Match Racing Tour.

Organized by the Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, the Grade 2 event is now in its fifteenth edition and will feature twelve teams, six of which are ranked within the world’s Top 20 in this discipline, where success relies on sailing skills, competitive spirit, and a deep knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing. The eight nations represented by the competing sailors once again underline the international character of the OM International Ledro Match Race.

From Friday to Sunday next week, under the experienced direction of Principal Race Officer Fabio Barrasso and aboard the club-owned J/22 fleet of the Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, chaired by Gaspare Inglese, competitors will be aiming to add their names to the event’s Hall of Fame alongside those of two-time defending champion Rocco Attili, winner in both 2024 and 2025.

Leading the entry list as top seed is:

Timothée Rossi (FRA, 8) winner of the 2025 Porto Montenegro Match Race;

Tom Foucher (FRA, 11);

Eric Monnin (SUI, 12) multiple European Champion and current tenth-ranked skipper on the World Match Racing Tour standings;

Ange Delerce (FRA, 15) 2023 Youth World Champion;

Lennard Bal (NED, 19);

Mati Sepp (EST, 30) a regular participant since the inaugural edition and winner in 2016 and 2018;

Angelos Papagerogiou (GRE, 36);

The traditional format will begin with a Round Robin stage, which will determine the knockout bracket leading to the selection of the two finalists. All matches will be officiated by a team of umpires led by Martin Clasen.

The 2026 edition of the OM International Ledro Match Race will be officially presented during the Opening Ceremony scheduled for the late afternoon of Thursday, June 18, an event that is expected to attract strong participation as usual. During the prize-giving ceremony, to be held on Sunday afternoon at the clubhouse of the Associazione Vela Lago di Ledro, a brand-new trophy created specifically for the event will be awarded for the first time.
